AKA turned the big TWO a couple months ago. Two!!
I’m kind of at a loss for words. AKA isn’t though- she is a chatterbox and seems to learn a new word every day. So many words in fact that I can’t even compile them into a list like I did a few months ago. Sentences are becoming more complex, like “Dada go to store and buy milk”. One word she refuses to say is her name. Maybe she doesn’t like it? We did get her to say it once and it sounded like “Mia”.
She’s getting smarter. She’s figuring things out. It’s an exciting time for all of us. There is really nothing more awesome than seeing your toddler experience something for the first time. First “real” giraffe sighting at the zoo, first time on the choo-choo ride at the fair, first ride on a waterslide…so fun to watch. Pure joy. Of course there are photos and videos to document all of these events (thank you iPhone). It’s like growing up all over again.
As all of you should know by now, we tend to show the best side of ourselves (and our kids) on social media. There is definitely more to AKA than those cute smiles and bike rides- what you’re not seeing are the tantrums, hitting, biting and throwing of toys. Some days are really rough! Time to do some reading…any recommendations?
Back to the fun stuff. Obviously I can’t list all of the cute things AKA does, but here’s a sampling of my current favorites:
-Saying please, thank you and excuse me at the appropriate times.
-Singing the alphabet song and Twinkle Twinkle. She actually got a group of grown men to join her at my last MTB race!
-Washing the car and bikes (and trying to pump air in the tires).
-Wanting to pick out her own clothing. Sometimes this can be really frustrating though! She really wants to wear her party dress.
-“Reading” books by herself.
-Cute toddler somersaults.
I’m sure I have plenty more to write about but I am short on time and besides, who wants to hear about potty training anyway?
‘Till next time…
